Focused Ultrasound

What is Focused Ultrasound?

Focused Ultrasound therapy is an application that creates a serious regenerative and collagen synthesizing activity in the tissue by creating a temperature increase of up to 65°C in the area between the muscle and the skin, called the SMAS layer, without creating any negative effects on the skin surface. The treatment method is also called Odaklı Ultrasound, Focused Ultrasound or HIFU Technology.

How is Focused Ultrasound Application Performed?

In the Focused Ultrasound application, ultrasound, which is a scanning and research / examination device that is known to everyone and used extensively in the field of health, is used. At the point where the ultrasound device focuses, it provides an increase in temperature in the area between the muscle and the skin, called the SMAS layer, by means of sound waves, which does not cause a negative effect on the surface, but causes an effect at a depth of 3 – 4.5 mm on the skin. An intense regeneration and tightening of the skin is provided by the means of this heat increase and the reactions and activation under the skin.

What are the Benefits of Focused Ultrasound Application?

Focused Ultrasound, fractional lasers, radio frequency methods, etc. to date has taken the effectiveness of many non-invasive and non-surgical skin rejuvenating treatments one step further, to a longer distance. (See Fractional Laser Systems)

Its distinguishing feature is that although it is not an invasive procedure, it is a method that starts immediately and increases up to 3 months and maintains its effect for up to 1 year. The well-being and recovery effect provided by the application starts immediately after the end of the procedure, that is, the patient has the chance to monitor the effectiveness of the application even during the procedure. On the other hand, none of the effects such as pain, redness and swelling that can be seen during the procedure occur.

The benefits provided by the application on the skin can be listed as follows:

Increased collagen production

Healthy connective tissue

Reduction in wrinkles

Skin structure with increased elasticity

In Which Areas Can Focused Ultrasound Be Applied?

Cheeks

Jawline

Jowl and neck area

Eyebrows and forehead area

Around the eyes

Cleavage area

These are the areas where Focused Ultrasound treatment is applied, especially for facial rejuvenation.

Is Focused Ultrasound Application Painful?

Unless it is especially not preferred by the patient, the Focused Ultrasound application does not even require local anesthesia, is not a painful and achy procedure. During the application, patients generally describe the pain they feel as “pins and needles” or “electricity”.

How Long Does Focused Ultrasound Application Take and How Many Times Is It Done?

The permanence period of the filling application, which is effective in giving the person an appearance similar to the image of 3 – 5 years ago, is between 6 – 9 months, depending on the chosen filler and the patient. Filling application is a repeatable process after its effects disappear.

What is the Processing Time for Focused Ultrasound Application?

Focused Ultrasound takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the area where it is applied. The application to the entire face and neck is completed within 1 hour. The patient can return to his daily life and normal activities after the very practical application.

With Focused Ultrasound, 1 to 3 sessions are appropriate to achieve the desired results. The effects that start after the application increase day by day, the effects become clear after 1 month, and the desired result is given at the end of 3 months. The clearest benefits can take up to 6 months to be received and are long lasting. This method, which is generally sufficient to be applied once a year, may need to be repeated as a second session after 6 months, especially in people with “heavy skin”.

Are There Any Side Effects and Risks of Focused Ultrasound Application?

Ultrasound energy has been used safely in medicine for more than 50 years, even in pregnant women.

There are no side effects in Burns, spots, etc. on the skin after the application. In some patients, mild redness can be observed that will return to normal after a few hours.

Since it is a procedure that does not require general anesthesia, the risks associated with anesthesia are eliminated. Although it is performed for aesthetic purposes, it should not be forgotten that Focused (Focused) Ultrasound application is a medical procedure and must be performed by specialist and experienced physicians. This point should be borne in mind since it constitutes an important condition both in the detection and prevention of risk factors and in the success of the application.
